I am in the final 12!!!

So I finally got the phone call I had been waiting for since the contest closed almost two weeks ago! The Director at the Athletic Club (Jay) advised me that I had been selected as one of the final 12 people - out of 78 who started on this journey - to take on the challenge of 12 weeks of intensive training, nutritional counselling and tears I am sure.

I was wary of putting in an application in the first place. It meant that I had to admit that I was super overweight not just to myself (and I am the queen of denial) but to everyone on my Facebook, email and work circle so that I could get enough votes to stay in the game. Not that it would have come as a surprise to anyone who knows me, but taking that step was a big thing for me.

Now I have a couple more days to purge my house of any and all junk food or potential junk food to begin this challenge. Being competitive by nature, I have already tried to figure out how to beat the other 11 people - before I even know who they are. I don't want to know their back-stories, I don't want to be their friend...I want to be the one that takes home the prize in the end...oh and improve my life while I am at it.

They say that 21 days of anything makes a habit. I don't think that it is going to be easy, but I know that my friends and family are behind me on this one. It is time for me to change my life for the better - to live the life I should have been living for the past 20 years...and if you are reading this you are going to be taking that journey with me.

Thanks again to everyone who took the time to register and vote for me every day - although I am sure there will be days that I will be cursing all of you - I couldn't be happier knowing that so many people out there are in my corner :)
