And so it begins! At 11:00 am this morning, I officially 'registered' with the Athletic Club Fitness consultant and became a contestant in the 'Lose It' Challenge! I met two of the other ladies in the lobby - as they were waiting to register as well. They seem like nice ladies, and both said they were excited to start the competition and get a healthier lifestyle started - but neither one of them cared if they won the challenge in the end.
I was a little surprised to be honest. I mean they really should be jazzed up and ready to go - and neither one of them had that competitive spirit that I know is going to help me stay honest and actually get to the gym each day. I am in this to make big changes in my life, but I am also in this for the final prize - so I had to tell them that I was in it to win, but that I wished them both well :) I guess people are motivated by different things, so if just being part of the challenge is motivation enough for them - then power to them, but I know that it is going to be hard for me to stay motivated - and winning is what is going to keep me going.
We didn't get the nutrition plan today. The trainer (who I meet for the first time on Monday at 6 PM eep) is apparently going to go through it with me when we first meet. The consultant I saw today said that if I stick with the eating plan and do what the trainer tells me - that I will have fantastic results by the end of the 12 weeks. They are going to be choosing the winner based on weight change/measurement changes and overall body mass change. Those were numbers I wasn't ready for that is for sure! I mean I knew I had a lot to lose, but seeing it on paper is a whole other ball game...but this is the whole point - the changes begin today.
So I am not going to tell you what I weighed in at, but suffice it to say that it was bad. I have decided that I am going to track my weekly progress and % change in weight to stay on track. So today I report 0 lost and 0% changed - but by next weekend it should be a whole different story!
