The Dreaded Spin Class...

So after last night's never-ending hour on the treadmill, I decided that I needed to find a more exciting way to get in my 500 calories.  I mean if this is going to become a habit, the treadmill is not going to be it.  So I look online and thankfully the fall schedule is out for classes (the return of the students is good for something).

There was hot pilates and hot yoga - back-to-back, but I really hate saunas, being hot and bendy exercises so a combination of all of those is not going to happen.  Not to mention that the last time I tried hot yoga, I almost passed out 3 times - so that will be a no!  Let's see - anti-gravity yoga...hmmm....sweaty bands that I could potentially fall out of while doing bendy exercises - yep, another pass.  So my final option is the dreaded spin class.

Not that there is anything wrong with spin class - it is possibly the hardest class they offer.  You can control your own pace, but you can also cheat if you aren't feeling up to a super-hard work out.  Now, since my legs are stiffening up with every passing moment from last night, I don't know that spin class was a super idea - but off I went to sweat off my 500 calories.

After a few minutes of warm-up (which seemed to loosen up my legs) there were the requisite circles, hills, speed drills and of course jumps/push ups which I can't seem to make look as smooth as everyone else.  As I write this, I can already feel the 'bike butt' setting in so sitting should be awesome by tomorrow.  But in the end, you can burn between 500-700 calories if you don't cheat - and I didn't cheat tonight trust me!  I had to pause a couple of times, but in the end I felt pretty good about it all.

I must have done pretty well because I fogged up the windows in the car on the drive home.
: )

Trainer Appointment #2 is tomorrow night!

Ugh sounds excruciating but more entertaining than treadmill every day for sure.
